I’m an Android app developer having 6 years of experience in developing, maintaining and managing Android apps. I have also guided junior developers of my organization to complete their projects on time. Mostly I have worked on Core Java, Android SDK and SQLite but I have also done some work on Android NDK, Cocos2D-X and AngularJs.
During last year, I was contacted by an offline local client to work on an Android mobile app. It was a very small application, to be precise a 2 screens app. I started to work on it hoping that I will finish it quickly and move on. But when the application was published on the Google Play, the response was overwhelming, we got around 3000 downloads during a fortnight. With such a huge response, every one was happy and the client decided to customize the application according to the logged in user. We designed a whole application from scratch and I completed it, again the app saw very good response and downloads on the Google Play reached to somewhere around 7500. This was the first time I did freelancing and saw a massive users using my application. I decided to give it a shot and started searching for such projects.
I started looking for projects on Freelancer and Upwork. But believe me it is really tough to get some work on such platforms. Pickup any project that can fetch you good money (of course you are eyeing monthly pay for every project) and you will find hundreds of bids. Individual engineers and small companies every one is bidding for the single project. God only knows about quality of engineers because everyone is free to bid.
How I came to know about Toptal.com? Tired of above platforms, I started a fresh search of platforms where I can get some work and came to know about Toptal.
